Last Sunday, while surfing in Nicaragua, Miles Walsh passed away due to a heart attack. He was in good shape, full of energy and passioned about the ocean. All of the Surfrider family wanted to express its deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
Mike Walsh was a distinguished member of the World Surfing Reserve, he opened the first roundtable of this association in 2009 in California. He brought a lot to the different debates and helped to expand the program. It was a humanitarian, philanthropist and a well respected surfer.
With the World Surfing Reserves, he tried to promote and protect surfing areas in outstanding environments. At the Global Waves Conference we were able to connect with the different associations dedicated to protecting waves like the World Surfing Reserve. All those who love and protect the environment are part of a united family and it is with great sadness that we heard about Miles’ tragedy.
RIP Miles Walsh
